The Belding Mill complex presented documentation challenges typical of 19th-century industrial buildings — no reliable existing drawings, massive timber and masonry structures with irregular geometries, and a multi-building site that required both interior and aerial capture to understand the full scope of the adaptive-reuse opportunity.

Having accurate existing-conditions documentation allowed the development team and their architects to evaluate the adaptive-reuse potential of each building with real spatial data rather than rough estimates.
