Overview
Comprehensive reality capture of a historic textile mill complex in Putnam, Connecticut, supporting an adaptive-reuse study that required accurate documentation of the existing structures, site conditions, and surrounding context.
The Challenge
The Belding Mill complex presented documentation challenges typical of 19th-century industrial buildings — no reliable existing drawings, massive timber and masonry structures with irregular geometries, and a multi-building site that required both interior and aerial capture to understand the full scope of the adaptive-reuse opportunity.
Impact
Having accurate existing-conditions documentation allowed the development team and their architects to evaluate the adaptive-reuse potential of each building with real spatial data rather than rough estimates. The combined ground and aerial capture provided the comprehensive site understanding needed to move the project forward with confidence.
